The unit is headed by Associate Professor Dr. Muhammad Imran Khokhar. Our dynamic team includes Dr. Faisal Shabbir and Dr. Mudassar Rasool as Assistant Professors. There are four well competent Senior Registrars. The Unit is providing state 

of the art Advanced Laparoscopic and Endoscopy services with dedicated Minimal Access Thyroid surgery, Breast and Oncology clinics.

This unit has well organized training and teaching programs for Post-graduates and under -graduates. There are weekly lectures, daily clinical classes in ward&OPD and Evening Emergency Classes. Our department has three OPD clinics per week and 24 hours surgical emergency coverage on alternate days. The department also holds clinical meetings, Journal club, M &M andMDT meetings. The department has been successfully conducting many hands-on workshops on Basicasic Surgical Skills,Vascular anastomosis,Communication skills, Trauma management, Basic Laparoscopic Skills and Energy Devices in Surgery throughout the year.

Our Department is pioneer instartingMinimalAccess Thyroid Surgeryin Gujranwala. The department is also a pioneer in establishing Tumor Board at DHQ-Teaching Hospital in collaboration with GINUM. Moreover the department is actively involved in research projects with more than 15 ongoing research projects.

Traditionally , the department of surgery has thrived to provide the best possible facilities and services to the residents of Gujranwala and its surrounding areas . We are doing all sorts of surgeries and variety of surgeries involving different branches of Gen surgery including surgical oncology , vascular , advanced laparoscopic surgeries . We have worked very hard together as a team to impart outcome based education to our post graduate trainees and Allhamdullilah 11 of our post graduate trainees passed their part Il & serving in different parts of country .
