Introduction

As a result GMC has always been conscious of the importance of quality in systems & processes and has had internal quality assurance mechanism in place to ensure:
- Regular review and upgradtion of academic programs to meet national and international requirements.
- Continuous evaluation of faculty, modules and exam with the purpose of ensuring quality enhancement.
- Availability of clear policies and procedures to govern both academic and administratative functions of medical college.
- Provision of safe and secure environment and mentoring facilitites for students that is conducive to learning and career development.
- Recruitment of best in the subject faculty and provision of learning opportunities to them.
- Tranparent Admission Procedure and Policies as per PMDC guidelines and adherence to the same.
- Upgradation of Physical Infrastructure, Academic Facilities and Learning Resources to make available best resources for teaching and learning.
- Provision of adequate Research opportunities to inculcate a research culture in students and faculty
- Opportunities to engage in extra curricular activities and inculcation of sense of Community Services.

Functions of QEC
- Facilitate the creation of a learner-centric environment to impart quality education.
- Encourage faculty training for enhancing their knowledge and teaching skill for effective teaching.
- Gather feedback from students, parents and faculty in order to take remedial measures to maintain quality.
- Propose quality parameters and suggest means of achieving those for the overall quality development of the institute.
- Develop and apply quality benchmarks/parameters for various academic and administrative activities of the institution.
- Disseminate information on various quality requirements of higher education.
- Act as a nodal agency of the Institution for coordinating quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of best practices.
- Develop and maintain institutional database through MIS for the purpose of maintaining /enhancing the institutional quality.
- Facilitate development of Quality Culture in the institution.
- Ensure that recommendations emerging from internal, as well as external reviews conducted by the Higher Education Quality Committee and other external bodies are being addressed.
- Document the steps taken and process implemented, leading to quality enhancement.
- Review the proceedings of various committees, boards and departments to identify the quality issues in teaching, learning, evaluation and research and to facilitate its discussion in relevant bodies for quality enhancement.
