The department of gastroenterology was established in May-2016. We expect to meet the growing need of procedures involving diagnostic as well as therapeutic endoscopy, colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy & ERCP at our endoscopy unit.Since 2016 we have performed around 25567 procedures. With a team of dedicated gastroenterologist &hepatologist, undersupervision of the Head of Department, Dr. Fawad Iqbal Janjua, FCPS (Gastroenterologist), we aim to provide cost effective and quality care for our patients.

Fellowship program in Gastroenterology was started in 2014, and department has trained 26 residents, many of which have completed their fellowship and are serving the community in different areas of Pakistan. During the disastrous epidemic of covid-19 in the last 2-years, the department has not only provided their facilities to accommodate the patients but also doctors and staff members for the management of patients. The department has contributed significantly to help people living in flood affected areas of Pakistan. All this was possible only due to continuous encouragement and guidance of the worthy principal, Prof. Dr. Maroof Aziz Khan (Principal, Gujranwala Medical College) and also how he has always been so friendly and supportive of all efforts and struggles of the gastroenterology team
