The department of dermatology was established by Dr Ghulam Mustafa Cheema, on an outdoor basis, in 1996. The dermatology outdoor services had been rendered, to the whole Gujranwala division over the period of years, by two public setups only, Divisional Head Quarter Hospital Gujranwala and District Head Quarter Hospital, Gujrat. Currently department is being headed by Prof. Dr Nadia Ali Azfar.

Presently, the dermatology team includes, one Professor, two Assistant Professors, two postgraduate resident,a one Registrar and two women medical officers. Department is now recognized for FCPS, MD and MCPS programe.our own Postgraduate residents, Postgraduate residents on Rotation and house officers is being carried out with special focus on acquiring adequate clinical skills and indulging them in academic exercises like power point presentations and discussions. The number of skin patients has been increasing gradually over the period of time. To begin with, average number of patients was 50-60 per day that has now reached t0400-500 patients per day. We are also providing on call dermatology services to all indoor and emergency departments of the hospital. Various skin procedures are being performed on outdoor basis like electrocautery, skin biopsies, excision of benign lesions, cryotherapy, Hair Removal Laser,phototherapy and intralesional therapies, latest diagnostic/therapeuticprocedures like dermoscopy, micro-needling and PRP Our goals are to establish indoor and emergency services for skin patients along with latest diagnostic facilities at GMC Teaching hospital in near future. Dermatology department [GMC hospital is fully equipped with C02 fractional laser ,Q-switch and Nd yag laser and other facilities. Dermatology department at GMC hospital will have 16 bedded indoor Our aim is to become one of the best reference point for dermatology patients in Pakistan We believe that team work is the key to success.
